Athens Riviera covers the beautiful Athens coast between Piraeus and Cape Sounion, which is where the renowned Temple of Poseidon stands. The coast is dotted with many southern suburbs in Athens.
All of the cliffsides and beachside areas are inviting, offering a plethora of things to do, bundling a gastronomic, party, romantic or adventurous vacation in one!
The South-East coastline of the Athens peninsula is home to a myriad of beaches, coves, marinas, and parks, each with its own quirks and charms. The advent of the tram, which goes from Syntagma Square to Voula, has made much of Athens Riviera completely accessible on foot. Or you can drive all the way from Piraeus down to Cape Sounio by the seaside!
Ancient Greeks knew their stuff, didn't they? Anavyssos sits on the exact place of ancient Anaflystos where ancient Athenians had their weekend homes! Too pity there was no internet back then (or may be not).
Boasting multiple beach bars and other establishments in every coast, you can swim, lunch, dine, sunbathe, windsurf, play beach volley and of course partyyyyy!!!
One of the most exclusive, modern and stylish suburbs of Athens boasting a breathtaking scenery from Saronida Hills to Agios Nikolaos peninsula associated with endless options to enjoy gastronomic delicacies!
Perhaps one of the most elegant districts in Athens Riviera, Glyfada hosts many stylish restaurants and hangouts that offer international cuisine and Greek and fusion foods.
With Glyfada's enormous shopping district, an esplanade of palm trees, and luxuriously designed beach clubs, this is truly the best place to go if you want to feel pampered! There is the Glyfada golf club for golf enthusiasts, and of course the massive Ellinikon development underway.
if you’ve still got work to do while in Athens, you can even find beach clubs with working spaces! Checking your emails might not be so terrible if you can sip a Freddo Cappuccino, while you do so and cool off in the sea afterward!
Sitting pretty on the south-western foot of Mount Ymittos, about 20 minutes from Airfenos, this luxe resort town has a year-round tropical vibe and is to Athens what Cannes is to the Cote d'Azur. There’s next to no graffiti.
Palm trees, fountains and sunny beds of marigolds line Athinas Avenue, heralding your arrival at this most self-aware of southern suburbs whose main game is leisure. It is the most expensive post code in the entire country.
Vouliagmeni Bay, with its luxury yachts and nautical clubs and marinas. Vouliagmeni's collection of the best seaside fine dining restaurants and beach clubs. They also have the best swimming team of the nation.
Ever wondered how Aegean Sea got its name? 3300 years ago King Aegeas jumped off the cliff next to the temple misled by the black sails of his son Theseus who forgot to change them while partying on the boat coming back from finishing the business with the Minotaur in Minoan Crete. 20 mins from Airfenos and you can see the exact rock of the jump and admire the magnificent temple of Poseidon.
On your way back to Airfenos from Cape Sounio you can stop for a swim at the endless sandy beach of Legrena. Privacy and no sharks neither crowds.
Post your swim you can wash away the salt with a cold beer and a plate of seafood in one of the village's fresh fish restaurants (yes fresh fish from the area).
